Our Kids Co-Working program allows for 4-5 year olds coming from local PreK and Kindergarten programs to have time and space after school to explore their independence. The early phases of school can be stressful and intense, and this program aims to provide opportunities for children to process their experiences from the day in whatever way they see fit. With encouragement and support from our staff, each participant will be able to set up his or her own projects, cultivating a sense of autonomy in parallel with peers. Each day, a guest teaching artist will be available to provide prompts and inspiration for children to engage with (subjects include visual arts, dance, science, music and theater/storytelling).
While this program promotes individualism, participants will also have the opportunity to join in group activities such as share-out sessions, games, and discussions. Our goal with Kids Co-Working is to cultivate a sense of “give and take” for children, allowing them to deepen their sense of how to work with others without losing sight of their own impulses, practicing how to communicate their thoughts and resolve conflicts.
We are staffed by a combination of Early Childhood Educators and Teaching Artists who visit throughout the week for specialized instruction. Our team has trained together to establish a culture of trust, inquiry and sensitivity that allows for us to respond with sensitivity to children’s interests and needs.
Kids Coworking runs Monday-Friday, from 2:30-5:30pm. Part-time enrollment is also available (two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).
